Despite his background in claims, underwriting, and relationship management, Reynolds quickly realized the need for a deeper technical foundation to excel in this specialized and rapidly evolving sector. The Certified Cyber Insurance Specialist (CCIS) course provided the tools he needed to bridge this gap and confidently shape his career trajectory.
Closing the Technical Knowledge Gap with the CCIS
Reynolds recognized that despite a breadth of experience he lacked a specialization so when the opportunity arose, he transitioned into a cyber-focused role. The CCIS course was instrumental in addressing his need for technical knowledge of cyber risk. “The course was excellent in filling the gaps in my technical and IT knowledge,” Reynolds notes. “It helped correlate these technical items to the insurance offering, making the content relevant and usable in day-to-day life.” This technical foundation has not only enhanced Reynolds’ understanding of cyber risks but also bolstered his ability to engage meaningfully with brokers and clients.

“The knowledge base from the CCIS course allows me to communicate more effectively with brokers, particularly about the controls we look for and, importantly, why they are important,” he explains.
Recognizing the ever-changing landscape of cyber threats, Reynolds is committed to staying ahead of emerging trends. “As threat actors change their methods and leverage new technologies, we need to adapt as well. Ongoing technical training, upskilling, and trend awareness will be important here.” Staying on top of current vulnerabilities and risks through continued education is the foundation of a good cyber insurance professional.
